FIR turns eight, becomes longest-running comedy show

Saturday, 2 August 2014 | 2:24 pm

After completing a successful run of eight years, FIR has become one of the longest-running comedy shows on Indian television.

Cop Chandramukhi Chautala's (Kavita Kaushik) unique style and fearless attitude, coupled with constable Gopinath Gandotra's (Gopi Bhalla) funny way of twisting English and Hindi, has earned it a loyal viewership. The show, which launched in 2006, recently underwent a format change to include a live audience.

Says Kavita, "When I was offered this show eight years ago, I was also getting offers for negative roles. But I chose this as I had a strong belief in its innovative script. From the first episode till now, it has been an incredible journey. I thank the viewers and hope they continue to support us in the years to come." Gopi adds, "I can't believe that we have completed eight years, I feel blessed to be a part of it. This show has given me an opportunity to experiment with my character."

FIR airs Saturday to Sunday at 9 pm on SAB TV.
